your mini session: tips and tricks

Let me know any of your must-have photos. We will go through and get various candids and poses. If anything different is needed, let me know in the contract or email me!
Plan the day! Make sure to map out your session location, so you know what time the car needs to be loaded up and leaving the driveway. I schedule several families on my mini-session day, so arriving late and receiving a full 15 minutes is simply impossible. Please be on time :)
Prep the kids! Let them know they’ll be going on an adventure and doing lots of smiling! Also, let dad know that it is a quick, painless 15 minutes ;) And, maybe give all of them a snack beforehand, ha.

at the session…
Text me if you can’t find me! My cell is 480.236.1529. Please don’t call, I may still be with another family. I will see a text on my watch, and will send a pin of where I am. I do always try to meet you close to where parking is. If you can see me and I am still with the previous client, just be patient as I am probably wrapping up!
Leave treats in the car. I always have smarties in my camera bag. They are not the most exciting candy, but they dissolve quickly, don’t stain the mouth and teeth, and a whole roll lasts the whole session! We use them if we need them, and at the end, if they didn’t need them, I let the kids dig in my bag for their treat. Chocolate and fruit snacks show up in photos. They can be messy, and we don’t want that! (if you don’t want them to have sugar just let me know). Puffs work great for little ones who can’t have candy yet!
Let kids be kids! Sometimes they just need to get the wiggles out, which is ok. I often let them look at my camera or press a button, and when I say I don’t mind, I truly don’t! I love getting to interact with your kids!
Lastly, mom and dad, just look at me and smile. Or look at each other and smile if I say to do that. I will get the kid’s attention! Promise!
After the session…
Cheers, you survived! Grab an adult beverage, and get the kids a treat!
Photos will be ready and delivered via a digital gallery 2 weeks following your session! Yay!
FAQs
What about rain?
The weather is not predictable when I choose mini session dates. I feel absolutely horrible when we have to reschedule for rain. If it rains, and the weather is not ideal for shooting, I will text you around noon the day of the session. You can choose another time I have open, or we can get a weekday if that works, or worst case, a full refund.
Anything we should know about being in Bluebonnets?
If you are prone to allergies, take your medicine. I definitely have to! I will find a safe place to shoot, usually there are spots that are naturally hollow in the field for sitting. I check for critters :) I don’t go too deep into the Bluebonnets, I like them to be in the background of the photos, and being on the edges seems to be the safest and least disturbing to the bloom and critters. Don’t pluck bluebonnets, but pick up loose ones if you desire!
