From late February through April, the Hill Country transforms into a photographer's dream. Bluebonnets carpet the roadsides, Indian paintbrushes add pops of orange and red, and the oak trees fill in with fresh green leaves. The light is soft, the temperatures are comfortable, and your family can be relaxed and present — not sweating through a Texas summer heat wave.

Best Time to Book Your Spring Family Session


Spring sessions book up fast — especially March and early April when the bluebonnets peak. I typically open spring booking in January, and sessions often fill within the first few days. If you're reading this and spring is approaching, reach out soon to check availability.


I recommend evening sessions (starting about an hour before sunset) for the best light. The golden hour in the Hill Country is truly unlike anywhere else — warm, soft, and incredibly flattering for everyone in the frame.


What to Wear for Spring Family Photos


Spring sessions call for light, airy colors that complement the natural landscape without competing with it. Think soft blues, sage greens, creams, blush pinks, and warm whites. Avoid overly bright neons or busy patterns that distract from your faces and the scenery around you.
